Ink + water + paper = yum

We spent the last two Saturdays in Wishi Washi Studio decorating paper and then making books - Japanese style

This is called Suminagashi - a Japanese form of paper marbling where you drop ink and a dispersant on the water then transfer that pattern to paper

And, the result is this!

This one looks like a tree trunk...

Then we bound them into books...

This is Tortoise Shell style binding

And, this is the Hemp Leaf binding.

Thanks to my wonderful students for doing such beautiful work!

p.s. if you're not in the wishi washi studio area you can learn these bindings on the wonderful and amazing creativebug.com...and suminagashi is a workshop coming to the site soooooooon...
